About the Guide
Welcome to the home of the Practical Guide to Amtgard Politics, possibly the longest document with the smallest audience in Amtgard history. (I have no idea if that's true, but it sounds good.) Rather than launch into an intro, I'll simply point you to the actual Introduction if you're at all curious as to how this came about.
The first link in the nav bar will take you to the current PDF version; the next set of links will take you to the online version.
This is definitely a work in progress: I keep being reminded of all the things I wanted to add and haven't yet. There may be updates/new sections in the future.

It’s fairly common in Amtgard to find someone referring to “politics” as though it’s inherently a terrible thing and to anyone who engages in “politics” as being a horrible person. It’s fairly clear that they are misusing the word, but so many seemingly intelligent people just don’t seem to get that- or choose to ignore it.

One of the definitions of intrigue is “to accomplish or force by crafty plotting or underhand machinations”. Politics is not the big bad. The manner in which people engage in them can be. Backstabbing, lying, rumor-mongering, bribery- these are the types of political maneuverings that give so many people a negative opinion of the entire process.

Many people believe that in order to be active in politics, you must run for office. Nothing could be further from the truth; there is more than enough room for the interested, active populace member.
