| Welcome to our Amtgard Resources | ||||||||||||
| We hope that you find something in these pages to assist you, even if it's nothing more than "Hey, that can't be right, I'm'a go lookit up for myself!" Have at it. I make no claim to be the best or only resource for anything; I only have an apparently uncontrollable urge to type a lot. My hope is that even when I myself am burned out, stuck in a morass of bad attitude or flat-out exhaustion, these things might still help someone out there. Content on this site was authored by me unless otherwise credited. If you wish to use any of the content, please contact me (or the author in question). I wish I didn't have to say crap like this, but unfortunately not everyone out there is honest. Bottom line: don't be a dick. If you're interested in posting an article here, see this page. If you find any broken links, problems, or want to comment, you can e-mail me at talisin@saint13.com. |

This site is broken up into two basic sections: Service (covering everything from service to politics to holding office to matters of protocol) and Arts & Sciences (everything related to the Arts & Sciences). The political primer is large enough that it also has its own "home" page, but it can also be accessed through the Service menus. As the site expands (as it may or may not, depending upon how demanding the keyboard muses are) more sections may be added. I *do* intend to try to keep the various links stable, so a bookmark today should be a viable bookmark tomorrow. (Note the use of the word "intend", though... weird things happen.) If you have trouble locating anything, drop me a line. |

| Moving the Bomb Line: A Practical Guide to Amtgard Politics | ||||||||||||
| Though the site is expanding to include even more rambling, the Guide is still our favorite. Check out the excerpts below, or read the whole darn Guide (or any chapter you please) right here at the Guide's Home. (A quick note on our abysmal lack of consistency: we tend to refer to the "Practical Guide to Amtgard Politics" as both "the Guide" and "the Primer" interchangeably.) | ||||||||||||

It’s fairly common in Amtgard to find someone referring to “politics” as though it’s inherently a terrible thing and to anyone who engages in “politics” as being a horrible person. It’s fairly clear that they are misusing the word, but so many seemingly intelligent people just don’t seem to get that- or choose to ignore it. |
One of the definitions of intrigue is “to accomplish or force by crafty plotting or underhand machinations”. Politics is not the big bad. The manner in which people engage in them can be. Backstabbing, lying, rumor-mongering, bribery- these are the types of political maneuverings that give so many people a negative opinion of the entire process. |

Excerpt: Chapter II - How Do I Get Involved? Many people believe that in order to be active in politics, you must run for office. Nothing could be further from the truth; there is more than enough room for the interested, active populace member. |
Excerpt: Chapter III - On the Campaign Trail IIf you find yourself on the receiving end of mudslinging, slurs, or accusations, step carefully and do not, under any circumstances, act without thinking thoroughly about it first. |
